Network
Training & Support
The
most critical objective for our projects is knowledge transfer, which
we believe is a key driver of sustainability. During the implementation
process, a local team 'shadows' the FMS team as they deploy each node.
Then FMS 'shadows' the local team as they begin to lead the implementation,
often coming up with ideas relevant to the environment that we would not
have imagined. This 'shadowing' process is supported and complimented
by network administrator documentation and ad-hoc training sessions through
which the local team can become FMS-certified Village Area Network (VAN)
Administrators. FMS has developed a simple point-and-click administrative
interface that enables someone with basic computer skills to configure
a VAN-APX kit as an uplink, repeater, Mobile Access Point or store-and-forward
node. FMS then supports the project and the team remotely over chat and
by routing directly into the Hub to take remote control over the network.
We have also developed a unique way to patch and upgrade nodes that are
not connected to the network in real-time.
