DakNet Network Architecture
DakNet is unique and proprietary network software that distributes bandwidth
from Internet connection points as far as the road goes. Existing backbones
become wireless uplinks for Mobile Access Points that are mounted on
vehicles to provide broadband "drive-by WiFi" access as they pass through
rural areas. As the vehicle carrying the Mobile Access Point drives by each
village, it automatically collects and delivers data wirelessly to/from
access devices in each village.
FMS has developed a robust and scalable solution for enabling VANs.
The software consists of system, transport, and application level codes
written to optimize the use of the physical network and serve as a platform
to interface with numerous end-user applications while retaining a small
data overhead and processing power requirements. This network software
consists of network software for VAN-APX Networking Kit, and software for
the Hub and Kiosks. The FMS access points come with the network software
pre-installed and pre-configured. The Hub server and Kiosk client software
is provided on a CD to be installed during the configuration phase.
