FMS offers different alternatives for delivering services to end-users depending
on the environment and desired applications. For projects with an existing PC
(and/or to support multiple PCs) at the client site we recommend using a Fixed
Access Point (FAP). The FAP provides a dedicated low-power interface to the
wireless network and plugs into Windows or Linux client PCs via Ethernet.
Our integrated PC-Access Point (PC-AP) is a good choice for projects where
there is no existing PC at the project site to consolidate the cost of having
a separate PC and Fixed Access Point. The PC-AP is best suited for client sites
requiring a single Windows or Linux PC to provide specific applications and/or for client sites
supporting mobile wireless access devices such as WiFi Phones.
Very low-cost cordless phones (under $12) plug into can be provided to end-users within each village as a simple numeric interface to our VMOIP system. WiFi phones and WiFi-enabled PDAs can also be used as mobile access devices within
the client environment so that the communications services are not restricted
to a fixed PC environment. WiFi phones can be used in store-and-forward network
environments to provide our Voice Mail Over IP (VMOIP) service, and can be used
in real-time network for VOIP communications.
